I was born and raised in Bedminster, Bristol, and developed a fascination for photography from a young age. At the age of 13, I began taking pictures, particularly drawn to capturing the architectural and social history of my hometown, inspired by local photographer Reece Windstone's collection of historical images of Bristol. The fast-paced and captivating nature of Bedminster instilled in me an urge to document what I was witnessing, knowing that it would eventually change.
Since 2016, I have had the opportunity to photograph events at some of the UK's leading venues, including Thekla in Bristol and venues in London such as the O2 Academy Brixton, Oslo Hackney, The Garage Islington, and much of West London. After four years of event photography, I sought to expand my reach and impact in the world of photography and completed my MA in Photography in 2021.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought a halt to my travels, trapping me in the small seaside town of Portishead, my home since 2018. The confinement allowed me to revisit my roots, observe my surroundings, and reflect on my life experiences and views on the world.
In 2020, I created two new projects that explore themes of youth, politics, and current affairs. "It's Later Than You Think" showcases my passion for event photography, while "You'll Never Leave" documents a personal moment in my history. Both projects are available for purchase as photo books from the Lulu Bookstore.
Since 2021, I have further honed my skills in event photography, with a focus on capturing precious moments at weddings, boxing matches, and live music performances. I strive to capture the energy, emotions, and atmosphere of each event, creating a lasting visual memory for my clients. Whether it's a bride and groom saying their vows, a nail-biting boxing match, or a thrilling live music performance, I am dedicated to capturing the essence of the moment with my lens.
In 2024, I spent four months researching, conducting interviews, and designing a book documenting the 40-year history of Thekla, a music venue on a retired German cargo ship that has been a staple of Bristol’s music scene since 1984. The book features quotes from a host of Bristol legends and includes photos by renowned photographer Beezer. It was an absolute pleasure to create, and it is my favorite piece of work to date. The book is now available in the merchandise section on the Thekla website.
